Scrivo sull'acqua ciò che non oso dire

"A terrible, exaggerated desire to tell and talk about oneself" is the common thread that links the works in Carla Benvenuto's personal exhibition "Scrivo sull'acqua ciò che non oso dire".
It is not a question of presenting books, not even diaries, but, to quote the words of Lorenzo Orsini, of "canvases of painted and partly erased writing turned into small boats like origami, installations made of rolls of rolled and unrolled stories, sewn together" into where the Genoese artist tells the story of Salì, a fictional character who wants to discover what lies beyond his world bounded by the horizon and then return.
In the Benvenuto's paintings we find the lessons learned from his masters Raimondo Sirotti and Aurelio Caminati, the ancient painting patterns evident in the canvases with women's bodies, the result of academic lessons, but also of the contact with the finds of the deposits of the Archaeological Museum of Sant ' Augustine who hosted his studio for a year.
The intense interior and creative research of the artist has now resulted in a full technical and expressive maturity, as witnessed by the numerous exhibitions in Italy and France in which he has exhibited his art.

The exhibition, curated by Gioia Quicquaro, art historian, will be inaugurated on Saturday 13 April at 6 pm and will be open until 4 May every day at the La Mongolfiera Art Gallery in via Roma 50 in Sanremo, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 15.30 to 19.30, except on Monday mornings and holidays.
